Ten aesthetically and thematically thought-provoking documentaries will enter the competition to win the only trophy awarded by One World Romania. For the first time in the history of our festival, in the 2019 edition we will be rewarding the winner with a prize in money, offered with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute.
The documentary films selected to enter the Competition bring us stories from all over the world – from Italy to Japan, from Mali to France, from Kyrgyzstan to Hungary, from Ukraine to the United States of America and from Serbia to Spain. Not only that, but their thematic palette is also tremendously diverse, being included in of 9 of the festival’s main sections.
Once again this year presiding over the OWR Competition is a jury composing of 5 high-school pupils, selected on the basis of an open essay they were asked to write about a socially relevant topic. This year, we challenged them to imagine and to describe a community they would consider ideal.
